What I hope to do is create a series of federated but self-contained communities that are focused on various topics. A recipe website that has recipes, forums, and a way to save your own recipes, for example. And then we let people use their existing fediverse account to participate, or we allow them to sign up on a public server. And all of this would be run on Hubzilla, with full support for federated single sign on, nomadic identity, and support for multiple protocols (Nomad, ActivityPub, AT Protocol, Diaspora, OpenWebAuth, etc.).
We've been working on all of this in the background for years now, and are working to launch some sites that change the paradigm of the social web. It's time to move beyond Twitter-style social media and start creating communities and fediverse-enabled websites.
