My first time participation as a Jiinui (Hand dancer) of Henna Seinenkai.
Henna Seinenkai practices #
eisa in Henna, Uruma, every year at the lunar Obon.
Eisa is not a performance art, but a ritual. During the lunar Obon, the ancestors are welcomed to spend time together with the ones living in this world. Eisa is done to venerate the ancestors, to welcome them, to divert them and to bid farewell to them. Each form of the #
dance has a specific meaning, such as the bond between people, the security of the village, or #
peace.
The whole program was danced on the 16th of the seventh lunar month.
