#
tags and #
categories#
Organizing your #
content with tags and categories can be quid helpful for you and for others to find stuff.
Tags get #
distributed with the post content and a search by a tag will hint to posts with all the same tag from all kinds of different authors.
It is important to know that different #
FEDI Projects deal with this search in different ways. In the #
Hubzilla #
CMS the search for tags work just local and tags in a post form other servers will link to a search for the tag on the particular server the post comes from. That is because the HZ #
Devs believe that content - and also the Tags should not be ripped apart form the original context and kind of hijacked - all content should stay under control of the home channel and server of origin.
E.g. #
Masto and also #
Friendica are doing it in a different way. There tags are always linked to a search on the instance where the post is read - no matter from where the post comes from.
This projects also know the use of #
Relay Servers which index content and tags. This practice is not wanted on Hubzilla servers - there are no Relays supported. This all comes from a quid different point of view of how federated servers should deal even with #
public #
posts.
The Hubzilla CMS has also a #
categorysystem to which just own #
TopLevelPosts can be sorted. This TopLevelPost categories do not get distributed and are are just seen and working on the local channel where they are created. They are great to structure just your own TopLevelPosts channel posts for you and visitors who view your channel as a #
Webpage.
If you want to present your channel with menus to specific topics the URL of a HZ category search like
https://im.allmendenetz.de/channel/chris?f&cat=HOWTOcan be used for menu #
links.
#
Menus can be build with the Hz webpage plugin.
