I've been telling anybody who will listen that every public post on mastodon is a spammable endpoint that a dedicated spammer can drive a fleet of spam starships through -- and that any one of them could easily bring the entire network to its knees in under 24 hours. It isn't a matter of "if" the spammers will discover this, only "when".
