When we read about the events at the Fediforum

we hear a lot about what FEDI apps may be able to do for us tomorrow.

Doing so i wonder if it is known what #Hubzilla https://hubzilla.org can do for us TODAY.

@𝓒𝓱𝓻𝓲𝓼 I suspect that almost none of the participants have ever heard of Hubzilla.

This is also due to the fact that Hubzilla does practically no self-promotion. The team should register its own presentation for next year.

hubzilla is alive since 2015 - and yes - the HZ devs never went to any conferences like this... i guess the idea was that the promotion would be done by the HZ adopters

@Hamiller Friendica There used to be a poll on Mastodon whether people had heard of Hubzilla or not.

75% voted that they hadn't even heard of Hubzilla until that poll.

In other words, the vast majority of Fediverse users don't even know that Hubzilla exists, much less what it can do.

And thus, there are constantly proposals to finally add features to "the Fediverse" which the Red Matrix already had. Or even Friendika.

The next FediForum in half a year needs Hubzilla presence and a big Hubzilla presentation. It doesn't help that the FediForum founder whom I'm connected with keeps lapsing back into "Fediverse = Mastodon".

you should know best what is going on - maybe you can give as a better picture of all - why is HZ ignored and do you really believe all this other apps which get developed and now promoted will be any better ?

at the end of the day, time had to be spend on different things.

sure but i feel this all is still a serious matter. This all is not about brands or pieces of code with different names... its about how we find settings for digital communication which is and will be part of our everyday life in the future more and more. So the software which gets pushed and understood today will be in our head tomorrow and will enable or handicap us to do things or not. That is way "advertisement" for the "right" things seams indeed imported.

If that what we call "the Fediverse" is not get the turn here and instead dump in obscure roads it is worth nothing at the end...

Hops will survive in some corner for sure.
